Re: Condensation in tents

Actually then! Can you please inform me of your mileage when
B/Packing with
this new phenomena, a lightweight tent;-) Compared to the "Olden Days"

Can't compare. In the 'Olden Days' I was younger (maybe you weren't!)
and fitter and hence more able to carry heavy tents. I reckon I can
cover as much ground now with my lightweight gear, as I did 30 years ago
with the old fashioned stuff.

30 years ago there were tents on the market that were very nearly as
light as todays models. My Ulitmate U1-B weighs in at about 5 lbs I
believe and my bivvy bag a mere 1.5 lbs.

The Ultimate was bought 1972 or possibly even earlier. It was certainly
in use by June 1972. I tried looking for a advert to confirm the weight
as my kitchen scales are inaccurate. I didn't find one for my tent but
lighter tents were readily available. A Karrimor advert in June 1974
offered the Marathon mk 2 tent at 2lb 15 oz and the Wedge 1 at 2lb 8 oz.
Both would allegedly take 2, the Wedge "squeeze two".

I'm also not one of those 'I did xx K today!'. I measure my walks by how
many wild flowers, butterflies etc. I've seen!

I measure my walks the standard way which is how I know I can only do
now about one third of what I could manage in my prime.

89 miles as the crow flies,
