Does anyone know if there's an online way to find out the exact
coverage of each Landranger and Explorer *** - i.e. the grid
references of the corners, and any areas obscured by the map key on
non-rectangular Explorers? The map images on the OS website do not
have a high enough resolution. Alternatively, is there a website that
will accurately tell me which maps cover a given grid reference? The
Ordnance Survey's own product search is not reliable (try searching
for NS495015, at
http://leisure.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/leisure/searchProcessing.jsp?q=NS495015&x=0&y=0&gazName=g&publisher=allpub,
and they will recommend you to buy Explorer 318, whose northern edge
is clearly south of the selected point).
Matthew.
I have such a database (in MSAccess) but only for the 100+ OS Landranger
(and a few others) sheets in my possession. (I can't check your grid ref as
I don't have the relevant map.)
And it did take me a long time inputting the data - especially for the odd
extra areas.
