Hi, Is anyone aware of any alternative MySql/PHP style forums to theIn answer to this and hopefully not considered a spammer (again), the
uk.rec.walking newsgroup ? I've been using these types of forums more
and more for my other hobbies and find them nicer than usenet, not
least for being troll free.
If not, is there any interest in setting such a beast up ?
Rob
website in my sig offers the ability to form your own online groups,
with forum and other private areas such as blog posts and picture
galleries. You can make a group as public or as private as you wish and
configure the group to allow only personally invited users, users who
apply and are moderated or any user to join. You can choose to make any
of your posts specific to any group you are a member of or public.
You can also create any number of groups.
In saying all that, I recognise the preference that many have to
newsgroups and if you have any doubts at all then do not visit my site
and move on.
I would also add that as this is a well established group I would not
like it to disappear so by all means set up diversified ancilliary
groups on my site but this is a great ng for general discussion and one
of the first places people visit, I too find this a valuable source of
information and enjoyable discussion in the main.
On saying all of that, perhaps the answer that many ng supporters would
probably agree is not to move to websites at all but to adopt killfiles
and resist the urge to respond to trolls, no matter the amount of
passion involved.
Kind regards.
