Mmmmm!
If they were Victorian, then, presumably, the photographs themselves,
and the original books are long out of copyright? Does re-publication in
a modern book re-start copyright? Anyone know?
Duration of copyright is 70 years from the end of the calendar year in which the author dies.
More than you ever wanted to know at:
http://www.patent.gov.uk/copy/legislation/legislation.pdf
If these are the photographers: George and Ashley Abraham (George D., 1870–1965; Ashley P., 1876–1951) then the photos are probably still copyright.
