"Mike Scott"
"not Sony"?? By my recent experiences with them, that has to be a plus
point. These days, I'd pay a premium to /avoid/ Sony.
Sad, but true. My Sony DVD burner died in a few months after purchase. I
can't say that I was writing 24/7/365, I wrote just 10-15 disks. Teac was
much better, but also died in a year with something. I'm testing a pretty
cheap Pioneer now writing all/over/all, any disk type or brand, high speeds,
etc., I paid for this drive about $50 and already wrote I guess close to 100
DVDs plus CD, CD-RW... Just one blank disk got a first problem earlier
today. I actually knew that it got a problem before I started burning
because I dropped it down and it got some dust particles and scratches on
the surface that I tried to blow away, without success. I just wanted to
test it out. One bit comparison problem in the very end of the record, I was
writing 4.5 GB file. No one else was destroyed or brought me any problem...
This DVD burner, btw 1810, works in the external box via USB port with the
laptop computer while I'm doing anything else. The funny thing that it's
cheaper in 2 times that the most expensive ones in the same store, and
actually it was the cheaest one when I bought it. Well I knew Pioneer for
many years. It can be loud, but never died in my hands without any serious
reason. Teacs were the very best, but this one just died for some reason, I
have no idea why. Maybe DVD disks that I was using were responsible for
that. I knew one box with Fujitsu, this box had a warning that these disks
can destry the burners. I didn't believe and I think that was the real
reason of my problems.
