I am completely happy for people to send e-mail to this
newsgroup in any language. In Subterranea
Britannica we are an international organization with many
members in Europe and elsewhere in the world. We visit
foreign countries regularly where we have so contrary in a
foreign language as well as we can. I am in the process to
write a characteristic for Internet site in Russian who could
introduce new information on the Soviet sites of the Russian
announcers. I hope to see more foreign e-mail

Indeed, but with text only newsgroups like this it is considered bad
nettiquette (in my experience anyway) not to use standard text (ie standard
English A-Z) and particularly bad to use foreign languages on English
speaking groups.

I totally agree with Nick's sentiments, but I thought that this group was
nothing to do with Subterranea Britannica (there just happen to be a lot
of its members here). What Subterranea Britannica's policy is surely don't
affect this group - much that I agree that people should be allowed to
post in whatever language they see fit (with the understanding that if it
isn't in English then they'll likely only reach a fraction of potential
audience)

(And technically you don't send an email to a newsgroup, but that's beside
the point ;-)

In fact, many news servers won't handle arabic or non-standard
alphabetic lettering

Not only servers, but a lot of clients too - e.g. Japanese dialect here,
regardless of how the server handles them, will typically be displayed as
a sequence of unicode character codes rather than as the author intended
(heck, I have enough problems with UK people posting using broken
Microsoft clients that don't stick to standard ASCII :-)

cheers
