I am Andy Belcher and I am seriously not impressed with this posting.
It would seem that the person who posted this did not bother to get
their facts right!
Firstly this information is not available in the public domain which
means someone has access to info they should not have.
(If this info is visible publicly it shouldn't be and will therefore be
due to an error on my part, I would very much like the URL of the
offending page so that I can repair/remove it, if anyone can oblige me
here?)
The situation at QD/FF is potentially litigious, to post incorrect
facts and include specific names against them is out of order.
So, for the record and to put our mis-informed friend straight...
Yes, Andy and Trevor did indeed enter this site to take pictures...
This was on 30th November 2004.
At the time there were no restrictions on access, this did not happen
until February 2005.
To the best of my knowledge no one has accessed either site since that
date, we were told to stay off by the land-owners and as a bona-fide
and well-respected local caving club (as opposed to semi-legit and
totally unregulated/uninsured urb-exers) we complied.
So QD and FF have NOT, REPEAT __NOT__ been re-opened. If the owners
(who are regular 'net users) see the above posting then the odds on
ever getting back in there will change from negligible to
non-existant!!

Say what?!!
This implies that we are somehow duty bound to share any such info with
all comers, especially idiots who make incorrect statements against
people's names on a public forum.
FYI - there are quite a few underground sites in the North Surrey area,
some very extensive which WCMS look after. Quite a few of these are
earmarked 'no publicity'. Not because we are secretive, by and large
we are not, but because the owners have requested this. It is their
sites that we enter by their good grace, naturally we don't bite the
hand that feeds us and bend over backwards to comply.
I should also point out to our ill-informed friend that QD/FF are not
included on the NAMHO field-trip schedule. There is a surface walk,
however this does not trespass onto the site, we can walk along the
public and permissory paths to either side (which they do not own) and
see all of the relevant features from there. (Indeed some of the main
features of the old plateway route aren't actually at QD anyway)
Trips can be arranged to any accessible sites looked after by WCMS
simply by emailing me { trips [AT] wcms [DOT] org [DOT] uk } (or other
WCMS members) and asking. I spend a good deal of my free time showing
people around the Surrey Mines, something that I personally enjoy doing
and that we as a club are happy to do else there is little point in
looking after these sites and maintaining a relatively high profile.
If you want access to any site just ask.
Anyway, I very much want to talk to whoever posted this...
If there are any WCMS, KURG or SubBrit members out there who know who
this person is I would very much appreciate an email or phone call (in
confidence if you wish)
To the person who posted it: Please email me off-board (use the 'trips'
address above) so we can exchange phone numbers - I want to talk to you
or arrange a meeting if you are reasonably local.
