There is every point in asking why.

I have more than enough internet ids and passwords as it is. I only go to the effort of creating a new one if I want to join a site. If I have to do it just to look around I will not bother. Now I could be odd, but I suspect most people are like that.

Your site might be the greatest thing since sliced bread but, unless you improve your marketing and tell people why they should go there, it will be hard to get users.
