More on olympic shooting.

Last week, there was a delegation from the 'UCI' - cyclings world
governing body having a look at the facilities/location of the Olympic
2012 Mountain Bike course.
After an inspection, it soon became clear that they were not happy with
the course, and they have subsequently told the organising committee
that they will not sanction the use of the planned area, and the
Organisers have now got to find a new site.
The organisers have said they want to keep all sports within a 10 mile
radius of Stratford, which would make finding a half decent mountain
bike course pretty impossible, as the highest hill is 150metres in the
area.
The cyclists were also complaining about the waste of money, as in
shooting, where the site will be demolished immediately after the race,
so absolutely no legacy involved at all.
Numerous others suitable sites, within 40 miles of ~London have been
proposed, but all have, so far, been rejected for various spurious
reaons.
If they are trying to keep within 10 miles, why is the yachting at
Weymouth?
Also on the same report were the 3 day eventers, who are complaining
that the planned use of Greenwich park (part of) was not suitable, as it
was too small, and they are trying to get the venue changed.
So, it may not be too late to get the use of Greenwich for shooting
changed for somewhere better for the sport.
Alan.
