OK, so I've (sort of) given up on M$ 'cos of them arbitrarily decided my
copy of XP isn't valid - I just CBA to argue the toss with them at the
moment.
So - I've got an arj HD [1] coming for Bag***, a ThinkPad R32 with 1GB
of RAM and some sort of processor.
I'd really like it to sort out things like the wireless notjbexing
(TP-link) and so on all on its own - so any suggestions about what
species of penguin should I go for?
I don't know what the range is, these days. Mostly I seem to hear of
flavours of Ubuntu (there are several, for various tastes). Or its parent,
Debian, of course. The Ubuntus come on a live CD, so you can boot from that
& play, and a friendly "Install this to your disk" button for if you decide
you like it. So I'd start with doing that from the CD & see if it does set
all the hardware up. There's a good chance, I'd think.
[1] Seemed easier to get an arj HD so I can leave XP undisturbed on the
old one should I need to recant.
Yes (I wonder if it's still possible to boot off a floppy, if one still
had one ?)
