Ooh, yea, hadn't read the comments to start with.
I notice there's one "If you're not doing anything wrong you've got nothing
to worry about".
Such people worry me a lot more than the terrrrists.
true innit? 'They' can't 'get' you for being lawful and good and
wotever, so if yer being lawful and good and wotever there's no need to
be worrited.
So long as they never make any mistakes and do anything to you instead of
any of the 'fair game' people. I guess this is why no-one minds in the least
when their personal details get left lying around in trains.
the answer. I'm not terribly impressed that so far all I've got are
arguments in response.
Okay, I will. Or, it *was* an answer. Try to answer her question and all I
get is slagged off and told I'm 'arguing'. How was it slagging off ? I
didn't even say anything *about* you, FFS.
Why is it worrying when people go "you've got nothing to worry about if
you've done nothing wrong" ? Because They make mistakes and do it to people
who haven't done anything wrong because They think they might have done
something wrong. Because the data they collect that we don't have any
problems about Their knowing, if we don't, because we haven't done anything
wrong, if we haven't, gets left on train seats. Because if we don't want it
done to us, why's it okay for other people ? Because the compensation to the
Birmingham Six, Guldford N, and glod-only-unforgets how many others, was
paid out of our taxis, because it was done in our name.
If "we" don't want to be locked up for 90 days, or 42 days, or however long
it'll be next, until we can clear our name and convince Them we haven't done
anything wrong, why do we think it's okay for other people ?
Because we don't trust them to get it it right every time; because they
don't. And because even if They are right and (the other) They really are
Bad People, there are still things we think shouldn't be done to them.
Go and look at some of the legal processes around some of the people who've
been locked up in Guantamo Bay, if you want to know what can happen to
people even after it's been proved in a court of (US military) law that they
didn't really do anything very wrong. And even more, _until_ it's been
proved. Bigtime. And don't tell me that's a different country, either,
because we're playing right along with it. 'We' have helped pass people into
that system. Think it couldn't happen to you ? Probably not, but ask
yourself how many mistakes would it take ?
Because people shouldn't be treated wrong even if they're someone else.
And how do I tell the difference between an "answer" and an "argument",
anyway ? *course* it's an argument. It's arguing a point of view. Isn't that
what you asked for ?
