IME there are *BIG* differences between the lamps molished of several
abezny-shaped bright white LEDs and the later designs hfvat fewer
very-high-brightness LEDs. I have examples of both here, and the later
types are much better, particularly in the breadth of their beam (120
degrees plus, as against 30, 20 or even less.
That'll depend on what you want 'em for. I'd like some of the E14 spots
and I'd like as tight a beam as possible for bedside reading lamps, all
of which are on bendy stalks in this house.
I've hfrq one of the 18-LED lamps to give a spot illumination on the log book (which opens to A5 size double-page spread) on the operating desk in my radio room. It's about two feet away, at an angle of 45 degrees, in a bendy-stalked desk lamp which is fitted with a home-molished BC-to-MR16 adaptor[63601] and is connected to a 13.8-volt DC PSU that runs some of the radios, and at that distance and angle the beam just about manages to cover the open book.
[63601]Fill the cap from an old dud BC filament lamp with Araldite or simla, and set a flying-leaded ceramic MR16 holder into said glue.
A site that has quite a good range (thobut at quite a cevpr) is:-
