My pooter stays on all day, regardless. This is not because I are rich,
but because I CBA with the 15-20 boot process every time I want to
switch it on. I have no idea /why/ it's slowed to a crawl; I only know
that it did so after I took everyone's advice and installed SP2. I am

So upgrade to SP3

Put more memory in

It won't accept more memory. The core of the problem is that it was quite a
fast machine when it was new and had windows 95 on it - it's under-spec for
XP, really. SP2 does seem to slow boot speeds, presumably it's doing more
stuff.

It's a total *** of a bios, too. It'll ONLY accept PC100 unforgettory,
and maximum 500MB. Putting PC133 in it and running it at 100 doesn't work.

I've an idea it was a Dell, originally.
