It's a funny old merry-go-round isn't it, getting a diagnosis? I
remember when my dad (Bill) had a serious and mysterious medical
condition that flummoxed the quacks for quite some time. He told us
about one consultation to discuss a battery of tests in which the dr
looked through the sheaf of output and told dad "Well you haven't got
cancer, and you haven't got HIV, and you haven't got leprosy
[seriously], and ... well, thank God you haven't got THAT" We never did
figure out or guess what THAT was that was so much worse than cancer,
HIV or leprosy that the dr. couldn't even mention its name.

I'd guess at bubonic plague, Ebola, or MRSA.
