Oh sheddi fount of all knowledge,

I have an ASUS M5200N flaptop with a Panasonic UJDA-765 DVD-ROM/CD-RW in
it which looks something like this:

Except that mine appears to have a custom front panel with the bottom
right hand corner cut off to fit the styling of the flaptop.

As far as I can see, apart from the aforementioned front panel, it's a
standard flaptop drive and any other standard flaptop drive should fit
with a small amount of hacking to the front panel of the drive or the
laptop case or both. Is this likely to be the case and could I fit
something like this instead?:

Yersss... Are they both slot-loading? Hard to tell from the
Sanaponic picture. If not, some surgery may be required. If yes, you
_may_ find that the bezels are interchangeable, with the right sized
screwdriver.
