People are not welcome to help themselves to undefined quantities of my
time for their purposes according to all these "suck people people into
conversation, get the agreeing to all kinds of stuff and then they find it
harder to refuse what you're actually asking for" techniques.

Nor mine NAAW.

Well, maybe. And you've got that little technique number so-and-so in the
droidbuch well sussed.

It's not exactly hard, is it ? Just say something that isn't in the script.
If they answer, it's a conversation. If they have to drag it back to the
script, there's a script.

Yesterday I was fubccvat in Stevnij, and while in eTcso I was jumped-out-in-front-of by a fuel salesdroid who had set up a stand at the end of the aisle.

First he asked 'had I got my Clubcard with me?'. Yes, I said.

Then he asked whether I'd like to sign up to get my electrickery from $company1 - I said I already got it from them (true), and he said 'thank you for being one of our customers'.

Third, he asked whom I got my gas from; I said '$company2'.

Instantly, he asked for my house number. I said 'I'm not about to give you any personal details'. Oh dear. His little program abended on the spot. Without so much as 'thank you for your time' or 'sorry to have troubled you' or anything like that, he strolled off, muttering faintly under his breath, back to his little stand.
