Not true. Recovery happens and gets better and better for the rest of

That's not a "cure", that's avoidance.

Ruth's peanut allergy is also
incurable- the strategy for managing it is: "Don't eat peanuts".
Peanut allergy is not a disease of the soul, alcoholism is.
No, it's not- it's a disease of the brain. The last thing recovering
alcoholics need is for people to assume that their condition is caused by
moral deficiency or "weakness". It's a disease. The treatment for the
disease is to remove the stimulus.
Thing - there is then potential for the individual to develop for the
best, in their own way, if they perceive such a thing.
There is still the difference though, in that removal of other allergens
does not necessarily enable hope for the Future in the way that sobriety
can, and so often does.
