I have a simpler solution to this one: ohl all-identical socks.
Even that doesn't jbex properly for me: Unless they all go through the
wash together, they fade differently and still end up in a range of
not-really-matching shades.
I favour H&J commando in Black. no obvious variable-fade problems, and some
of them are several years old now.
