Got a inverter in yer shed?

I bought a Panasonic "Inverter" microwave and it's fine and I know what
inverter means.
However at one side (inside) there is a panel which has a *cardboard*
window. Now, do I leave it there or remove it? I expect it will get mucky at
some point. The one in the shop had missing cardboard showing some kind of
'thingy' in the little compartment. But if the cardboard is not there then
the 'thingy' will get mucky.
Do I go for IIWDFI?
