It's not so much bad news as puzzling, because it seems to be almost

She has a low centile score for everything she was tested on, which
whilst not exactly brilliant news does at least mean that we have a
weapon in our armoury for when we try to get classroom support for her.
It's fairly obvious that she's going to need it.
I wouldn't be surprised if the diagnosis was made in part to help with
getting support. Funding for classroom support is usually points based
and a fancy Greek label is worth double points!
Our son has developmental delays and whilst at a sleep clinic
appointment (he snores like a hippo farting in a mud pool) the doctor
read his notes and commented "I see the paediatircian has diagnosed
Sotos syndrome." (that's kind of the opposite problem, i.e. big head)
This was news to us as we just thought he had the typical huge Dods
head[1]. We haven't had a chance to chat to the paediatrician about
this yet, but as he's known to err on the "gloomy" side for diagnoses
because of the aforementioned points system, we're not worried.

they could stretch. Thankfully I found out about Tilley hats, which go
all the way up to size FH or even RFH in my case.
