Well, speaking for myself, yes. Nowadays I'm unable to stand for very
long owing to my arthritis and my bad back. I'd prefer to sit on the
platform till the next train came in.

So sit on the platform and wait for the next train! No-one is making you
get on. To put it another way, I usually would get on and stand rather
than wait, why should I be prevented from doing that just because you
wouldn't?

Okay. It would still be nice to see some sort of management of the thing,
maybe ? Perhaps someone could tell her, and you, that you'll be standing if
you get on ? Or that most of the current sitters are getting off shortly so
if you don't mind standing for 1 or 2 you'll be pretty sure of a seat after,
or no chance at all, or whatever ?
