they were doing their normal wbo for which they got paid, and were fully
aware of the risks involved. There's no suggestion that it was shot dowm

Curious suggestion. You're in a plane that goes down in flames and hits
the ground, you die. If it's a "normal" failure, you're not a hero, if it
was someone doing it deliberately then you are, even though the effect's
pretty much the same and you probably wouldn't even have a chance to do
anything very different. You possibly wouldn't even know which.
That seems an odd thought.
