At a previous school of his, the advice givne to those who didn't want to
use 'chemicals' was to shampoo hair well and then use oodles of conditioner
on hair, combed through with fine tooth comb, on the grounds that the
conditioner made it impossible for the nits to stick to the hair, and the
combing would get rid of the crawling ones. Dunno how effective it was -
never had to try.
It does work, but use a proper metal nit comb. (The plastic ones are
penc.) I work with kids and get them quite frequently. I am allergic
to tea tree oil and mislike putting chemicals on my head, so I tried
the conditioner method. Takes a couple of goes, but it does the trick.
