I want to take up the carpet in my bathroom and put down vinyl. The
problem being that the sink is propped up on a wooden frame. To do the
floor, I will have to remove the frame and the sink will fall off the
wall.
I once replaced a porch floor that had a post standing on the floor (at
a corner, admittedly). I put a 'bridge' support from farther away
to hold up the top bit and cut the bottom bit off, installed the new
floor and then the new post.
For a sink, you might support it with wide-angle A-frame to the far edges,
remove the straight up frame, etc. Or neatly cut out next to the frame
and install the vinyl with neat cutout to match, so the frame is on
the only remaining bit of carpet. (I've seen walls done that way.)
