I tried finding an anti-spyware program but they don't seem to do them for

At the moment I'm waiting for explorer to go "phut" I read somewhere that
Microsoft isn't supporting explorer on the mac and they tell everyone to go
and use safari or firefox instead. Hmm.
If only I wasn't so wedded to my OS9.
Macs are practically immune from such malware. Especially OS9 as it's
probably not hugely used these days and it's not worth the bother of
writing anything nasty for it. Many people love OS9 dearly, but I would
recommend moving to OSX if possible. I made the change and would never
go back (although I've still got OS9 installed and can run older progs
in 'Classic' (i.e.OS9) mode).
I've got a laptop running OSX tiger with nice shiny new software but, for my
bread and butter work [not that I have any], I have to keep running OS9.2.2
on my desktop machine [this one]. PowerPC G4 640Mb 867MHz quicksilver - non
dual.
I suppose I could install tiger on this machine but I have an awful feeling
that it would wipe out my OS9. Can you run classic in Tiger? I'm so out of
touch with OSX it's not funny, despite the fact that I run it on my laptop.
I tried to install OS9 on my OSX laptop and the computer said "no". I would
have to uninstall OSX, install OS9 and then reinstall OSX again. I CBA, so I
have OS9 here and Tiger there. I was hoping I would have broken my OS9
system by now [to give me a reason to format/reinstall] but we're 5 years
down the road and it still won't give out. When I tried to upgrade my OSX on
this machine to Tiger the computer told me: "this isn't going to happen if
you also want to keep OS9".
Basically I have to:
Learn DreamWeaver
Find Fetch equivalent software
Archive tons of files on my drive and external drive
Be prepared to wave goodbye to Riven, Exile, etc
Learn how to fix OSX like I can fix OS9 when it falls over.
But I'm not equipped with enough of a need for any of that.
If your machine will run OSX [999] then you're even better protected as
the OS is Unix/Linux based under the loverlry Mac interface and it won't
install any software without the Administrator's express approval. On
PeeCees nasty websites can download an install.exe file onto your PeeCee
and run it without your knowledge. Impossible on a Mac.
Macs always were good about not getting viruses and such.
[999] Ideally a non-beige G3 PowerPC based machine (such as an iMac)
with 200+mhz chip and at least 128Mb RAM for OSX 10.3 (Panther) or
something a bit more powerful with at least 256Mb RAM for OSX10.4
(Tiger). You can get OSX 10.3 running on the beige G3 Macs, but it's a
bit of a black art.
I'm running 10.3.9 on a 450Mhz G3 Blue & White PowerPC with 704Mb RAM
and it's not significantly slower than the 1.7Ghz PeeCee with 512Mb RAM
that SWMBO now uses.
PS: I've been at the red wine, so this post is probably not all that
sensible. Also, my desktop mac bit me earlier today and left a nasty red
mark on my forearm [bastad].
