Jeez, you're living dangerously...
Mindjew, W2K is probably a slightly less popular target for the scum wot
write virii despite it being (IMHO) the best OS wot M$ have ever wrote.
My daughter's 'doze XP box got totally borked a month or so ago when she
opened an URL in MSN when some wormy type virus that had infected a
friend's box sent her a bogus message.
She was at Uni in Preston and I was here in Shropshire trying to
diagnose the problem over the phone (her mobile phone...). In the end
she had to take her chamine down to the Uni techie team to get it
sorted. The thing that had hit her box had ubggred up Norton AV and
installed some particularly nasty spyware that took them all day to get
rid of. They also had to manually remove Norton (several hours in
regedit...) to get the box working again.
I can do without that sort of hassle. I still have both the PC and the
Mac connected to the broadbean interweb, but am only using the PC for
some netty stuff that Mac OS 9 doesn't easily support (torrent d/ls
mostly). The PC has 3 firewalls (router, XP and a software one), one AV
and 2 spyware running, the Mac only has the router firewall.
Spookily enyff, 10 years ago, most net propagated virii were aimed at
Macs as there were prolly more Macs connected to the interweb than PCs
then. How things change...
