Re: Book recomendation

I received a rather excellent book for Christmas -

"The Not-So-Very-Nice
Goings-On At
VICTORIA
Lodge

Without Illustrations By the Author

By Philip Ardagh

Faber & Faber
ISBN 0-571-22357-5

But illustrations are mercilessly lifted from the Grils' Own Paper of
the early 1890s, and narrative captions thoughtfully interwoven by the
Awful, Mr. Philip Ardagh, into (I quote) A Tale of Deadly Intrigue,
Treachery and Giant Hamsters.

This is not a book for the swooning namby-pamby or the faint-hearted,
nor yet for restless sleepers, and especially not for those who may have
sisters or giant hamsters.

All in all a ripping yarn with large helpings of just desserts, or do I
mean plain puddings?
