Book recomendation

I am currently reading One Fourteenth of an Elephant by Ian Denys Peek which
is about his time as a POW in Burma during WW2. I've read a lot of stuff
about the last big unpleasantness and I thought I had read most of the
horrors that were visited on prisoners of the Japanese but this book is
quite an eye opener. It isn't all horror thobut, his encounter with an
heffalump is very amusing [1]. One bit almost reduced me to tears last night
when he described the death of a cockney lad.

[1] Apparently it takes 14 men to do the jbex of one heffalump hence the
title
