O great and illustrious Oracle^h^h^h^h^h^h Shed, thou fount of all knowledge and wisdom, please answer my humble and ignorant plea.
I want to turn Young Tom's bedroom ceiling into a model of the solar system, with his light as the sun, and with spheres representing the planets (ideally to size scale, excepting the sun, although obviously not distance scale) suspended from the ceiling in order. The bedroom is small, about 7' or 8' square, so obviously Jupiter would have to be under about 1' diameter.
Can't help you, but to add to the overall "To scale" discussion, ISTR that there is a dishfrq railway/cycle path to the south of York, which has some of the planets modelled to scale and at scale distances along it. IASTR reading, most likely in the Shed, about a plan to build a scale-model solar system across the whole of the UK from Land's End to John O'Groats, but CBA to google.
