I'd avoid that if I could. Yes, it works, but it hides a separate
symptom. (All Sun servers at Brunel are rebooted at 5 am every day; guess
how much confidence that inspires in me about the "system administrators"
-- especially when I'm logged in from another time-zone, or simply can't
sleep here.)

I've had Simula with my new modem/router/wifi -- it says the net
ain't available but when I say "go ahead anyway" it worketh. I suspect
the connexion's dropped out and the first attempt wakes the modem into
reconnecting so that the second attempt works straight away.
