I think the waterproof box is a good idea. On UK day trips, I use a pelican case. I will certainly do the same thing on any live aboard holiday I go on in the future... and the torch too... small price to pay for getting out alive!
Do you by any chance have a link to somewhere where they sell such boxes ?
