Hi! Well, its true. I was on the boat that picked up the crew and
passengers of Coral Queen. Nobody was hurt which was good given that
the boat started sinking around 0500 ie when nearly everyone was
asleep.
One important lesson I learnt: keep your valuables (passport, money,
credit card, diving certs) in a waterproof box or grab bag. Only about
3 of the 10-12 passengers on board managed to get their passports off
the boat which meant a long trip to Cairo and no more diving...
I would also always keep a water proof torch next to the bed. The first
thing that goes off is the engines/generator which means no lights.
Given the size of modern liveaboards, getting out in the dark could be
a bit of a mare on a heavily listing boat that's filling with water...
Cheers, Jules.
