Like that but working properly.

I'm starting to move away from technology as a route to anything of
any meaning.

I have given up trying to contact my unit by anythingother than paper. They use e-mail, facebook, beb, myspace etc... and I can't be arsed sendingteh same message through 4 or 5 differrent methods, and then having to check each one daily for replies.

The Internet, could be a fantastic opportunity to share knowledge and
offer a forum for debate. It is, and it isn't. Much of the "knowledge"
is bogus, not just a different view on things but often totally
incorrect.

And you try telling that to school kids, they think you are either mad or just wrong.

I'm getting back to thinking that nothing is actually a whole lot
better than Notices read out at the end of a meeting, and accompanying
letters.

Agreed.

BTW, this isn't a question of what technology CAN do, it is a question
of WHAT users DO DO with the technology. The two vary widely.

Agreed. You have to NEED to use a computer before it is really useful.

Electronic diaries are only useful if it is your only way of scheduling, e-mail is only useful if everybody checks theirs at least once a day.

Its like my wife's mobile phone, she only turns it on to make calls, because she doesn't want to be disturbed when she is out. If we all did the same thing then we might as well not bother.
