Thinking of going to my first reunion (and my first visit to Gilwell).
Is it worth it? what goes on? TIA

I've attended a few - certainly the last 4-5 - and I would suggest
that you go with an open mind.
Visiting Gilwell for some is awe inspiring - though the reunion isn't
necessarily the best way to explore the site. Walking around the White
House rooms and seeing some Scouting history was special for me.
The event is busy - there are those who have been coming so long you'd
think they had rights on a certain patch of grass. Having travelled
down from West Yorkshire I often struggle to find an "ideal" pitch but
it doesn't spoil my fun.
The campfire on Saturday tends to be moving to some extent, though I
probably will give it a miss this year and try to keep myself busy
elsewhere.
There has been a strong push to encourage leaving your own kids at
home - understandable but there will still be some on site.
Saturday offers the chance to visit "the lid" - a large venue which is
home to a wide range of "trade" stands - i.e. campsites / YHA /
ordnance survey etc. Freebies available here.
The HQ team tend to run seminars which can be interesting.
I use it as a chance to recharge my batteries.
Hope some is helpful.
