[Throws hands up in dispair!] WHY?!?? What b****y difference does
it make where they come from?
I know that it should not matter but if a person has grown up within a Group they find it hard to leave that Group to go to a District based Unit especially if it is some distance away. No matter how grown up these YP are they are still "frightened" going somewhere new to meet people they have never met. (Shouldn't happen if there is a two way planning and visits).
I agree. Plus the problem up unitl the start of this year was some of the units were boys only, in fact the only one which would accept our YP. The same one that insists they join thier group and run the explorer section as another group section and nothing to do with district at all. They do now accept Girls, but have nothing nice to say, siting that girls are not capable. They aint been brave enougth to say it in my ear shot as yet. They run an air rifle club for Scouts every Sunday morning. Shame then that my daughter, Scout, beat them in the recnet district shooting competiton especially as it was the third time she had used an Air rifle. They aint saying much now...., gloat gloat.
I understand Explorers is explorer led and facilitated by Leaders, are you saying this is not the case?
Why shouldn't the programme be run by Leaders. This is not a VSU. Explorers according to the bumph is Leader Led. I agree that the Members should have input into the programme and should take some responsibillity for some of it but to expect them to do as VS were supposed to do is not going to happen in most cases.
