You don't have to wait 4 years for the next Jamboree -
Go next year!
Jamboree 2008 is a celebration of the 100 years of scouting since Lord
Baden-Powell first camped at Carr Edge, Northumberland - often referred to
as Humshaugh. The camp will be held in Northumberland National Park with
their kind permission and will hopefully support activities based around
traditional scouting skills. We will be enjoying the best of Northumbria,
from the Cheviot hills to Hadrian's Wall and the seaside.
There are 600 places available, and this is open to the Scout and Guide
Associations, Baden-Powell Scout Association, WFIS and WOSM (scouts from all
over the world will be attending). Jamboree 2008 represents the coming
together of different parts of the whole scout movement in order to rekindle
the original ideas that the Chief Scout laid down in 1908, remembering the
fourth scout law:
A Scout is a friend to all, and a brother to every other Scout, no matter
to what Country, Class or Creed the other may belong.
Don't miss out on this event - be part of the challenge. Enjoy hiking in
the National Park and on Hadrian's Wall, climbing, abseiling and tree
walkways, swimming and water based activities, conservation, pioneering,
rope work and many other exciting activities.
Camp fees for Jamboree 2008 will be £50 which will cover the event
insurance (due to this being open to different organizations), and site set
up. Your own groups will then need to charge scouts for food, transport to
the site etc.
The Jamboree will be held from 15th - 22nd August 2008. Those wishing to
reserve their place should confirm by e-mail, with
pennyjohnson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and arrange to pay the £10 deposit per person.
You can do this via me if you like. Registration will require Group Name,
Contact Details, Group Nationality and Affiliation (WFIS/WOSM), Number of
leaders, Numbers of scouts, Other people, Insurance Details.
