One thing that was very noticeable at the Jamboree was that just about
every nationality other than the UK tend to wear uniform on activities
rather than just as a formality as tends to be the case in the UK.

YES, we met loads of scouts from Europe when we visited Brownsea. We wore
our 'summer uniform' a red polo shirt, logo and scarf but our troop
sinmply couln't comprehend scouts walking about in uniform, big hats and
all.

It is probably why in many countries Scouts are "seen" and why they often
get more in the way assistance from governments etc.


All i would say is that when my scouts wear 'full uniform' we wear it
'properly' ; blue combats, shirt done-up (if not tucked-in) but the
foreign scouts wear their 'full uniform' with buttons open, somethimes
with jeans.... so i am not too sure what i like best.

Some Scouts do have jeans as their uniform - France appears to from pictures
I have seen.

But I agree that if you are wearing it you should do so properly.
