Really? I'm in IT (service management, more specifically) and I have
*never* heard that term in industry. Education seems to think it is
used in business but I've not seen it.

Really, then you cannot be dealing with SIs or Telcos, both of which
use the term extensively.
Have to say that I find the term IT being used less now, replaced with
IS instead.
