My dad was Sea Scout in Porstmouth, spent my childhood around Gun Wharf. He
was part of the team who carried the body of the artist William Wyllie to
the dockyard on a treck-cart on the 6th April 1931 and scouts from the 1st
Portchester Sea Scout Troop, which Wyllie had founded, rowed his coffin
across Portsmouth Harbour for his burial at Portchester Castle.
The harbour is full of memories for me and for scouting.
The other thing dad did was to row all around Portsmouth, as it is an
Island!
