Really? I'm in IT (service management, more specifically) and I have
*never* heard that term in industry. Education seems to think it is
used in business but I've not seen it.

I can only think of one occasion when I have seen it used outside of education and I suspect that the person who used it had probably come from an education environment as they were new to IT in the commercial world.
