What's wrong with ICT?

I have only ever heard the term ICT used in educational circles. It
has always been IT, IT news, IT week, IT Matters, IT Technician etc...

"ICT" is the current "big thing" that all the System Integrator
companies are doing. I suspect thought that ICT for schools is
completely different from ICT in business.

Many teachers and pupils don't seem to realise that this is not used
elsewhere and bandy it about quite innocenlty then look confused when
you say "No I am an IT manager NOT an ICT manager"

It's definitely used (but then I'm never sure the higher management
using the term actually know what it means).

I never understood why the extra C was adopted, I know it stands for
communication, but looked at in context I think that it is completely
redundant, IT covers it all. :-)

Campaign for simple English!!
