My one wish would be that we should accept the concept of AALA
licencing and bring our in house schemes in line with the outdoor
centres. At the very least the AALA self certificatiobn scheme could
be used at County or District level to demonstrate how good our
systems hopefully are.
Although AALS licensing does not require those providing an activity
to hold actual NGB awards, it does provide guidelines as to who may
assess the competance and that IIRC is MIC for hillwalking and MIA for
Rockclimbing.
Adopting NGB levels for assessors would in effect stop the current SA
permit scheme from working, MICs and even MIAs in Scouting are few and
far between.
