Our self defence bloke has pulled the plug on our course because teh
kids didn't respect him. Long story.

Did he earn it and deserve it or just expect it.

Expected it I think.

Most of my kids finnished their last expeditions well ahead of
schedule and won't be old enough to sign up for next stage of DofE
until the autumn.

Is that because next stage is Gold where they have to be 16 or is it just
how it works there - as technically when you finish Bronze you can go onto
Silver under 15 and if you are 16 can start gold. I guess it is the way it
is organised to you locally allowing people only to sign up in September.

The LEA signs them up during year 9 so you have 13.5 year olds having
completed bronze, but can't sign up for silver for 18 months. Even
though some have turned 15 over the winter several don't have
birthdays until June/July/August. I can't afford to have the at
differrent stages, trying to get round them all now is a right pain so
they are killing time really.

They are bored with the environmental project

Can't comment but if it is a big one that is dragging on then .....

Its over a year but no one activity, such as digging the pond, can
engage more than a hand ful at any one time.

Yes, I'm feeling a little pi***d at the moment too.

I am serioulsy thinking of taking a few weeks break this year, I used
to do that as SL and came back in september all fired up, but I havn't
felt like that for ages. Mind you I really miss having other adults
around, perhaps I should concentrate on that.

the big difference with ES is that they really REALLY don't want their
parents around so a big avanue is closed off and if anybody approaches
the host group they tend not to get passed on to me :-(
