I need to invest in a new home printer/ scanner which will be used a great

I did have a really useful HP jobbie, but thought it was expensive on ink.
When it broke I got vouchers to replace under Cover-plan (which i take-out
on all things with moving parts & have have had many gadgets replaced with
new)
I thought I did some research and got an Epson DX4050 but while it might
be
cheaper to run it has almost no controls for scanning, re-sizing, colour
management etc. it is a pain.
So, if I were to replace it, what would people recomend. I buy cheap
cartridges in bulk, but is there a model with cheaper running costs?
Have you done research and found a model to recomend?

Don't buy an inkjet. Don't even think about it.

It is very difficult to find a comparison of the costs of printing
between printers but a good rule of thumb is that a *** from b&w
laser costs about a tenth of the cost of a *** from an inkjet.
I have recently printed over 1500 sheets of paper as handouts for the
sailing club and scouts I teach sailing to. The cost of printing so
far has been under £20.
I bought a second hand b&w laser on ebay for £20 (delivered) and it
is still using the toner that came with it. A new toner cartridge
costs about £25 and will do about 3000 sheets or I can get a refil kit
for £6!
I still have the lexmark inkjet I bought new in a sale for £14 but it
is going to cost over £40 for new cartridges so I don't know whether
I'm going to bother with colour in future.

Thanks Fred.
But i do need colour for maps, i don't really have space for 2 printers.
So anyone want to suggest colour laser?
Eddie
