We're looking at doing a camp at Miskin campsite sometime over the
summer. I can see from Google Maps that it is situated ideally between
the M4 and the South Wales Mainline railway :), but hey, scouts I'm sure
can make more noise than that.

I will be going to visit it in a couple of weeks, but anyone got any
advice? The website I can find - http://www.miskin.org.uk/mmsv/- seems a
little out of date.

Does the river along the boundary of it mean the place is likely to
flood? There was a post a few years ago to the newsgroup suggesting that
dog muck was a problem - is that still the case?

Site almost completely booked indoors, and outdoors very popular too.

Woods are freely used by outsiders, but the main site easily monitored.
Parking can be fun if several groups try to leave at same time, but usually
avoided by arranging with others on site.

Huge playing field site next to river, not as bad as it seems, we've camped
with cubs there for years and haven't managed to loose or drown one yet.
Usually kept clear of tents so that all campers have a big playing area.

Archery is the only outside event (which our team runs, may meet you there).
The campfire has plenty of wood, and a great campfire team live pretty local
to site (don' you agree Marc?)

An ideal base if you want to be visiting local area, or if you have a
program entirely your own.
