Ok, this is the first time I've posted here and I'm shamelessly
looking to beg, borrow or otherwise steal some really expensive kit.
We've just had our hall refurbished (paid all the cost despite it
being owned by the local church... anyway) and now we want to get a
multimedia projector and a screen - only problem is we've got no money
left. So, does anybody have any bright ideas where we might get one
cheaper than the £400 - £500 you usually see them go for?
If you are in the London area, try applying for a grant from the Bridge
House Trust. They provided the funds for my District to purchase a
projector. Actually, if use will only be occasional, then it may be
better as a District resource.

spoke to bridge house trust at the end of last year.
they will not help scout groups at the moment.
current focus is old people and something else.
Yes their website says their Samall grants are for elderly at present but
if
you go to main grants you might get one in here:
Objectives
a.. to support second tier or membership organisations in the provision
of
services that strengthen the governance and accountability of voluntary
organisations
b.. to improve standards in voluntary organisations
c.. to help the voluntary sector become more sustainable.
So, discuss with the the possibility improving the standard of your
premises, your printing and projection equipment. Making your premises
more
attractive to be let ( new kitchen?) and provide an income to 'sustain'
your organisation. OK so it's not camps and tents, but the secret of
successful grant-chasing is to follow the money.

thanks
i'll investigate.
they simply told me it wasn't worth the hassle. But i'll see.
The secret, as with all grants, is to ring and talk through your basic idea
with the charity, before you waste time with the application. remember, they
HAVE to get riid of the money, it is their only purpose in life and it might
as well be spent on your kids and save you th hasstle of another jumble
sale.
All the very best!
Eddie
NO JUMBLE SALES.
nope. we've been their done that. but now it's time for a new
approach.
grants and gift aid. (while the latter lasts)
And sainsbury's vouchers. over 5,000 now... (5375 to be precise)
