CURRENT CRB as of course we all know there is no such thing.
Very true. CRB forms are comparable in this respect to an MoT. Just
because a car was issued with a valid MoT 10 minutes ago doesn't mean
it hasn't developed a fault 9 minutes ago that meant it ceased to be
roadworthy.
The difference with an MoT is that it has a nominal one year validity.
With a CRB check it's down to the individual organisation to do their
own risk assessment and make that decision themselves.
It gets me most when
people are talking about the enhanced ones as the *** that the
applicant gets may be clear but the enhanced part of it might not, the
applicant never sees that part only the countersignatory to the form
Is that actually the case? While I've never had any "involvement" with
the police at all so mine would (presumably) be clear, I would have
concerns about not knowing what was being returned on a police record
check. Surely if it is the case it should be documented clearly - and
if it is can anyone tell me where?
Surely an applicant has as much right to see that information as an
employer?
Which of course is why Guiding and Scouting
take new ones for everybody no matter how recent the one the applicant
has got is. (I applied for 2 on the same day once as neither
organisation could accept the one from the other organisation)
I was always under the impression that the main reason for the Scout
Association requiring their own check was that they also use the same
form to follow through their own Confidential Enquiry check, which is
essentially a database of people unsuitable for involvement with the
Association derived from things like newspaper articles etc. This,
prior to CRB, was the main means of vetting, and some may argue it's
actually more effective.
