There is a booklet called 'When Adults Disagree' that is normally only
issued to DC's.

There are quite a few publications restricted in this way, they are not a secret but read in isolation I could see that they would do more harm than good.

Your DC MUST get involved if you GSL has walked, they don't have a choice now, and hopefully they will speak to everybody involved, have you considered that if your GSL really has gone then either one of you two or the BSL will probably be asked to be acting GSL until a permanent one is found?

I have no idea how this works in practice, but in principle I think it means you could call an extra-ordinary meeting of the exec and ask the officers to stand down pending a re-election.

If this happens the re-read the relevant section of POR and you could probably re-shape the exec to be something that supported you, but be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater, there are probably people there who may prefer a new approach and would be an asset.

However and this is going to be hard, before going forward I suggest that you get ALL uniformed adults together for a group scout leaders meeting and have a really long hard look at what just happened and play devils advocate.

What went wrong?

What can we do to stop this happening again?

What do we want to happen now?

Try to get past who is to blame and concentrate on the future, if you do this exercise openly then you will find things that looking back you could have done differently, but hey that's life, we make do things that don't work out, we learn from them and move on..
