Parents have a nasty habit of abandoning a sinking ship ... all you have to prove is that you are not, and parents will be more than happy to support you. Once you get the management of the group sorted (notably a new GSL), I'm sure the parents will be back!

A bit unfair to refer to this as a "nasty habit". It's a quite understandable reaction of people who volunteered, maybe reluctantly, to help out something they saw as worthwhile but then be faced with in-fighting that will probably need a lot of time and emotional effort to sort out - more than they are prepared to take on.

(not a comment on this particular situation, but something along similar lines I saw in our group some time ago)
