in big letters alerting us to the fact. Am I as unobservant as my wife

The simple answer is that I don't know - but I suspect that it is more
likely to be black dustbin bags.
This came up a few years back when th pre-school that I was involved in
had to get people qualified in basic food hygiene. When we did
fundraising barbecues we always prepared the rolls first and then put
them in bin-bags. The instructor said that it was wrong to do that
because of the rodenticide.
